Obituary for Cheryl D. "Sherry" Armbrecht (Morrill)

CAMDEN – Cheryl ‘Sherry’ Dexter Armbrecht, 71, died unexpectedly, surrounded by her family, on Monday, October 31st, 2016 at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Born in Salem, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Eugene A. and Priscilla E. Richardson Morrill. She was a 1963 graduate of Portsmouth (NH) High School, and obtained her BA in Spanish at the University of Vermont in 1967. On June 17, 1967 Sherry married Thomas H. Armbrecht in Farmington, Maine. The couple made their first home at Windrift Farm in neighboring New Vineyard.
Sherry was a very loving person whose kindness touched all those who knew her. She devoted much of her life to nurturing other beings, caring not only for people, but also for the animals and plants with which she surrounded herself. She had a profound spiritual connection to the earth that was evident in the beautiful gardens she cultivated. An accomplished fiber artist, she knit, hooked and braided rugs, and shared her creations with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cribbage, bridge, and simply spending time at the family camp with people she loved.
Sherry had a long and successful career as a Real Estate Broker, most recently with Jaret & Cohn Real Estate in Camden. She was also a skilled teacher who worked with children with special needs, taught Head Start, rug braiding, and various real estate classes during the course of her life. She held advanced professional certifications, including GRI and CRS, and was also a member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Armbrecht of Camden, by her three children and their partners: Thomas J. D. Armbrecht and his partner Bernard Thiébaud of Madison WI; Jonathan G. Armbrecht and his fiancée Christina M. Pasquini of Rockport; her daughter, Carrie K. Armbrecht of Camden, and by her sister, Deborah M. Burd and partner J. Jeffery Barnum of Strong. Her family also includes niece Canaan M. Marble, nephew Amos M. Burd, and cousins, Jeannine Zwoboda, Frederick Morrill (deceased), Kent Morrill and his wife Mimi, and Stephen Morrill. On her husband’s side, she is survived by sisters-in-law Arlene Kerr and Edith Bartleson, and by brother-in-law George Armbrecht and his wife Sara, as well as by many extended family members.
A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held between 1:30 and 3:30pm on Friday, November 11th at the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home’s ‘104 Limerock’ reception center in Rockland, .
