Obituary for Marion E. McMahan

OWLS HEAD – Marion E. McMahan, 79, died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, after an extended illness.
Born in North Nobleboro, March 3, 1937, she was the daughter of Marrian and Murial Tessa Light Bryant. She was educated in local schools and was valedictorian of the 1955 graduating class of Nobleboro High School.
Telling her stories, Marion put many smiles on people’s faces. She was always dressed in her best and complimented by everyone when she was out and about. Everyone loved her cooking and she could cook about anything. Her door was always open to all the neighborhood kids who would come for meals and snacks. Above all, Marion enjoyed her grandchildren. Marion’s favorite pastime was cutting news clippings out of the local newspapers about the area kids she knew, family members or grandchildren, whether it was about sports, birth announcements, school achievements; that she kept as keepsakes.
For many years, she worked cleaning houses. It is a well-known fact that you can eat off the floor of any house that she cleaned, including her own.
Besides her parents, Marion was pre-deceased by her son Dale K McMahan, a great-grandson Ashton O’Hara, a grandson Casey Tolman, her sister Ethelyn Ralph Barbour, and a son-in-law Herbert Damon. She is survived by her children Donald E. ‘Jib’ McMahan, Jr. of Owls Head and his fiancée Susan Lincoln of New Hampshire, David L. McMahan of South Thomaston, Deborah M. Damon, Vance McMahan and his wife Angel all of Owls Head; daughter-in-law Lynn McMahan of South Thomaston; two sisters, Betsy Cunningham and her husband Carl of Waldoboro, Beverly Boivin of Warren; her grandchildren, Michael O’Hara, Jr. of Owls Head, William McMahan of Rockland, Ross McMahan and his fiancée Jess Martin of Warren, Dale Damon and his fiancée Kelsey Gringeri of Rockland, Luke McMahan of Portland, Christopher McMahan of Owls Head, Lexi McMahan of South Thomaston; her great-grandchildren, Mikey and Makayla O’Hara-Damon, Delaney and Sunny Chase, Searra and Baylee Tolman, Sophia Lawson McMahan, Jerimiah and Piper McMahan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
