ROCKLAND - Vivian Hussey Edwards 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at her residence in Bartlett Woods.

Vivian was born in Rockland, September 2, 1925, the daughter of Robert and Bertha (Dixon) Hussey. She was a 1943 graduate of Rockland High School and married her high school sweetheart, Howard Edwards, on November 17, 1946.

For many years she worked as a bookkeeper for her father-in-law at Edwards Ice Cream. Vivian was a long time member of the Emblem Club, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Women and taught Sunday school at St. Peter’s when her sons were young.

Biddy, as she was known to all her friends and family will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, loving personality, baked beans and brownies. She always put her family first and deeply loved all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Robert Hussey and Richard Hussey, sisters Emily Hussey, Doris Sutton, Eleanor Sayward, and Margaret Hanscom. She is survived by sons Howard (Ruth-Ann) Edwards, Jr. of Rockland; Philip (Trudie) Edwards of Fayetteville, NC and daughter Patricia (Sasha) Edwards of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren Jeffrey Edwards (Carolyn Ames), Jared (Melissa) Edwards, Duane (Christina) Edwards and Ainsley Coll; step-grandchildren Jaydan Edwards and Tammy (Wally) Dairo; great-grandchildren Brianna, Sarah and Hannah Edwards, McKenna Coll and step-great-grandchildren Dominic, Selena and Ifeoluwa Dairo; three sisters-in-law, Nathalie Nicholas of Owls Head, Corinne Stevens of Falmouth; and Barbara Edwards of Ballina, Australia; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Vivian’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, White Street, Rockland. A reception will follow immediately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Bo 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
