ROCKLAND, MAINE - Dorothy Vivian Mello (Dotty), 87, of Rockland, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 14, 2016 after a brief illness.

Born in New York City on June 12, 1928, she is predeceased by Edward, her husband of 55 years.
Dotty, a previous resident of Long Island, returned to her beloved Maine, where she spent many happy summers with her grandmother, over thirty years ago.

She is survived by her sister Patricia Barnes Del Valle of New York; her niece, Donna Barnes of New Jersey; and four children and their spouses, Edward Mello, Jr. and his wife Tracy, Linda Mello Teta and husband Joseph, Denise Mello Fehr and husband William Jr., and Bruce Mello and wife Donna. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a brief service of remembrance held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2016 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
