Obituary for Bernice "Bunny" Cassidy (Grinnell)

WARREN - Bernice ‘Bunny’ Cassidy, 88, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Country Manor in Coopers Mills.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, December 25, 1927, she was the daughter of Frank and Katherine Martin Grinnell. Bunny grew up in Burketteville and graduated from Appleton High School. She later attended and graduated from Gorham State Teachers College.
She began her career in Southern Maine, teaching kindergarten in Windham. For over 30 years Mrs. Cassidy taught school in MSAD 40. She had a passion for teaching, spending countless hours pouring over homework assignments, grading papers and doing everything in her power to help the students she was entrusted with. She volunteered her time tutoring students who needed extra help, especially in reading, even tutoring her own grandchildren. Over the years she served as head teacher and was particularly proud to have been awarded ‘Teacher of the Year.’ Mrs. Cassidy retired in 1990 after a long and successful career that touched the lives of many students.
In the late 1980s Bunny married Francis ‘Cass’ Cassidy. Together they enjoyed taking day trips, stopping at flea markets along the way and going out to eat. Bunny was an exceptional dancer and loved going to local dances. She and Cass especially enjoyed a trip to Hawaii.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by three brothers and three sisters; and a son Mark Kolmosky; Mrs. Cassidy is survived by her beloved husband Francis Cassidy of Winslow; her sons, Edward Kolmosky of Owls Head, Frank Overlock and his wife Karen of Waldoboro; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
