Obituary for Clarence Raymond Roberts

Clarence Raymond  Roberts
AUGUSTA - Clarence R. Roberts, 94, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2016, at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Rockland October 24, 1921 to Wilfred Roberts and Mattie Wall Roberts, he grew up in South Hope with his four brothers and one sister. He was a World War II veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart, which was presented to him by General MacArthur.
Following the war, he became a scallop fisherman out of New Bedford, MA, for twenty years. He eventually moved back to Maine with his wife Edna. He was a lobsterman for several years out of the Keag River in South Thomaston. He loved his job of lobstering as well as building traps for other fishermen.
He was predeceased by his wife of over fifty years, Edna Lima Roberts, as well as his sister Inez, and four brothers, Calvin, Edward, Harry, and Bernard Roberts. He is survived by his children, Edward L. Roberts of Rockland, Linda Young of South Thomaston, and Susan Moore of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Irene Roberts of Rockland, Sherri Cross of South Thomaston, Chris Dodge of South Thomaston, and Tabatha Marr of Waldoboro; as well as several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
At Mr. Roberts’ request, there will be no funeral services. However, visitors are welcomed at his gravesite at Seaside Cemetery in Tenants Harbor.
