Obituary for Lucy Claire Crabtree

Lucy Claire Crabtree
HOPE - Lucy Claire Crabtree, known to many as ‘Grammie Lucy’, passed away peacefully at her home, January 28th, 2016, fulfilling one of her life wishes, to die at home.
Born in Lawrence, MA, April 29, 1930, she was daughter of Frederic W. and Stella A. Cress Watmough. She Graduated from Union High School in 1948. She married Everett Crabtree on April 14, 1950, and together they had nine children.
A beautiful, generous person with a strong love and faith in God, she was a member of the South Hope Christian Church, where for years she was known for her angelic voice. She spent many hours each day playing her piano and listening to classical music. She lived every day to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Proud of each one, ‘Grammie Lucy’ never forgot a birthday, and saved every card, photo or drawing ever given to her. All the little ones knew Grammies cookie jar was always full. She enjoyed weekly outings with her siblings.
Grammie was a caring woman who listened to every person she ever met, and would always help in whatever way possible. She treated every person she met as a true friend and uniquely remembered each one.
She is survived by her nine children and their spouses, Thomas and Lynn Crabtree, Timothy and Anne Crabtree, Ted and Brenda Crabtree, Todd and Shelley Crabtree, Elaine and John Gertner, Catherine and Bernie Roberts, Cindy and Curtis Adolphsen, Terry and Celeste Crabtree, and Jane Crabtree; 25 Grandchildren and 29 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Marion Meservey, Hazel Foote, Faye Secotte, and Grace Stetson, and two brothers, Harold Watmough, and Grant Watmough. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Warren Watmough.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no funeral service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the South Hope Christian Church, 142 Main Street, Hope, 04847, or the St Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
