Obituary for Laurence Joseph Marriner

Laurence Joseph Marriner
OWLS HEAD – Laurence J. Marriner, 83, died unexpectedly, Friday, January 22, 2016, at the Veterans Medical Center at Togus.
Born in Rockland, November 15, 1932, he was the eldest of 11 children of Arthur J. and Catherine A. Winchenbach Marriner. He was raised and lived in Owls Head all his life.
From an early age, Laurence worked hard making his living on the ocean while fishing out of Owls Head.
From 1953 to 1955, he served in the U.S. Army.
Shortly after returning from the service, he married and with his wife raised four children.
Every weekend the family looked forward to heading to their camp at Saponac Lake, Grand Falls Township. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cribbage. It was not uncommon for Laurence to play three games of cribbage a day, and if at camp, that number usually increased.
For the past 15 years, Laurence found fulfillment in the company of his soul-mate, Cindy Forrest.
He was a 60+ year member of the Knox Lodge of Masons No. 189 at South Thomaston.
Other than his companion of 15 years, Cindy Forrest of Owls Head, Laurence is survived by three sons, Laurence J. Marriner, Jr. of Brooklin, Alan D. Marriner and his wife Joella of Owls Head, Keith Marriner of Augusta; one daughter Tina Marriner of Hope; two brothers, Bernard L. Marriner and his wife Joan of Palmyra, Alfred A.
