Condolences

Condolence From: Wendy Hamalainen Charland
Condolence: I met Barb in the 4th grade, when I took it upon myself to join Horse 4-H. What followed was a special relationship that moved from 4-H leader, to riding instructor and mentor, to life long family friend. Barb, Ted and Beth would join us for our family Christmas Eve gatherings, and New Year celebrations often, adding to the love and laughter of the evening. Ted was even Santa a few years running, if I remember correctly! From the age of 10 through when I left for college, Barb was a part of my life through horses. I loved being her student, and she was the best horsewoman a girl could have in her life. I would spend entire days at the barn once my own horse was there - and I learned so much through her guidance and through helping with Freedom Riders as well. She had so much patience and grace with animals, as well as people. I feel so fortunate that I sat down in that cozy little kitchen for the first time over 30 years ago, with several other girls, drinking our hot cocoa and sharing a love of horses and started what I didn't know then, would become a friendship with such a special soul. She will be deeply missed. My heart goes out to all of her family and friends, and her animals.

Condolence: There will never be a woman as sweet, kind, and caring as Barb Ezell. I got to know her for several years a while back during her time at Freedom Riders. I will miss Barb very much, and I send condolences to her family. She will be missed by many, many people. We were all lucky to have her in our lives.

Condolence From: MaryBeth Pride
Condolence: I was terribly saddened to hear of Barb's passing. I had the privilege of working with her for several years in the Rockland public schools and was a volunteer for her Freedom Riders Therapeutic Horseback Riding program. Barb was an unusually calm, kind and steady woman and children with whom she worked benefited tremendously from these characteristics. She was a wonderful listener and a truly nice person. She saw the potential in every child with whom she worked and gave so very much. I always enjoyed our conversations and we used to chuckle that i was a MaryBeth with a son named Eliot and she had a daughter Marybeth and a grandson Eliot. I wish her family peace in their grief. Please know how much Barb was loved.

Condolence: The few times that I saw Barbara at the school I could tell that she was a very kind lady. She had that kind loving spirit that a mom would like to see with her child. She helped my child with his work and I had some nice conversations with her. May the Lord be with her family.

Condolence: Barbara,You will always be in my thoughts and prayers..we shared many conversations about your horses Mariah & Schilling which you gave to me along your Journey as your called it...I have never met another person in this world with the heart of you Barbara. From all of your stories about the horses you have had and the work you have done with them over the many many years. Thanks to you, I have Schilling who our little girl Keira (whom you met at the transfer)She calls him Ti amo because in Italian it means I Love You! Only you and I will ever know how far and beyond you went to assure your two beloved horses were getting what they needed. I have pictures of you and your Beth and I will keep your picture above Ti amo's stall.Ti amo has Keira to ride and love him and give him all the cuddles and brushing he can stand and Mariah is two miles from me and I go see her twice a week, she is still "Mariah" as you and I know her...She runs on 45 acres with a pony just like when she was with Schilling...I keep all the hand written cards and beautiful notes you sent me with your words of love for "our" Mariah & Schilling and of your friendship to me...I feel so Grateful & Truly Blessed to have known you, Barbara my friend, In my thoughts and prayers always God Bless You,Helen
