ROCKPORT – Willis ‘Bill’ Albert Monroe, 79, died peacefully August 10, 2015, at the Sussman House in Rockport. Born in Camden, November 18, 1935, he was the son of Bill and Phyllis Monroe. He was a graduate of Camden High School and attended the University of Maine, Orono, until enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Returning home after his service, Bill became Dockmaster at Wayfayer Marine until retiring and moving with his daughter to their summer home in Blue Hill. Bill loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, growing fruits, herbs and vegetables. Other than his parents, Bill was pre-deceased by a step-son Arthur Bacon. He is survived by his daughter, Mimi Monroe Hussey of Rockport, his son, Bill, Jr. of Mechanic Falls; a brother James Monroe and his wife Linda of Blue Hill; 12 grandchildren; as well as his late wife’s children whom he raised, Nancy Eisler of CT, Jerry Bacon of Yarmouth, and Steve Bacon of South Thomaston. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 23, 2015, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Camden. The Reverend John Rafter will officiate.
