Obituary for Marilyn June Seaman

Marilyn June Seaman
OWLS HEAD - Marilyn D. Seaman, 84, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Sussman House in Rockport, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Portland, May 20, 1931, she was the daughter of Ralph F. and Meryl Thomas Dudley. Marilyn grew up in Rockland, and graduated from Rockland High School in 1949.

Following high school Marilyn worked as a clerk at the B & R Transportation Company. Here she met Leslie Estabrook. They were married and raised three daughters. This marriage later ended in divorce.

In her later years, Marilyn worked for two area banks, Rockland Savings and Depositor’s Trust as a bank teller. She enjoyed her work and made many friends.

In 1976 Marilyn married Richard ‘Dick’ Seaman. Together they lived many years in Connecticut where Dick worked for Sikorsky Aircraft. Grandchildren spent time in the summer with them, going to the beach and enjoying many adventures together. Marilyn loved having her grandchildren with her. She loved to have fun!

After retirement Marilyn and Dick moved back to Maine to be near family, settling in Owls Head.

Marilyn was a talented artist and crafts woman. She loved animals and nature. Most of all, Marilyn was a loving wife, devoted mother and the best grandmother a child could ever have.

Predeceased by her parents; a younger sister Lee Dudley Wood; and a grandson Jesse Moore; Marilyn is survived by her husband Richard Seaman of Owls Head; her daughters, Lucinda Leonard and her husband Rick of Rockland, Rebecca Aceto and her husband Tommy of Yarmouth, Andrea Spokas and her husband Neil of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her grandchildren, Lauren Moore of Rockland, Jaime Leonard of Cambridge, MA, Anthony Aceto of Brooklyn, NY, Jonathan Aceto of Waterbury, VT, Gregory Spokas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her nephews Rick and Randy Wood, and a niece Wendy Wood. She also leaves behind three lifelong friends, Jane Wheaton, Margaret ‘Boo’ Fish, and Dorothy ‘Dot’ Marchant. They shared many great times, from candle pin bowling to digging for old bottles. Marilyn left behind much love and warm memories. She will be sorely missed.

There will be no services. Interment will be at the Mt. View Cemetery in Camden at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either, the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington DC, 20019; the Sussman House, c/o Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation, 22 White Street, Rockland, or Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. box 1294, Rockland, ME 04841.
