Obituary for Dianne Faith Wilson

Dianne Faith Wilson
THOMASTON - Dianne Faith MacLellan Wilson, 72, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at her residence in Thomaston.

Dianne was born in Boston to Nova Scotians, Harry and Bertie MacLellan. She attended Mass Art in the early 1960’s and married Tom Wilson in 1970. She was co-owner of several successful shops and restaurants over the years, including: The Asterisk on Beacon Hill, the Big Belly Deli on Martha’s Vineyard, and Café Uno in Newburyport. She ultimately made her home in Maine, spending much of her time on Mount Desert and Monhegan Islands.

“Deedee” was an accomplished artist, as well as an entrepreneur. Most of all, she was a generous soul and a free spirit, with a big laugh and a heart bursting with affection. Her family knew her as the grand-mistress of delightfully mangled mixed metaphors and unintentional malapropisms. She loved to surround herself with art, and her favorite activity has always been lavishly gifting her many friends.

Dianne was predeceased by her husband Tom; her brother David MacLellan; and her beloved kitty Mahalo. She is survived by her sisters, Judy Robbins and her husband Peter of Sedgwick, Deborah Day of Southwest Harbor; her sister-in-law Janine MacLellan of Plantation, Florida; her longtime friend Joe Castellucci of Rockland; four nieces, Zoë, Adrienne, Ashley, and Anna; two nephews, Isaac and Ian; and six grand-nieces and nephews. We hold dear the image of a little girl in her wee kilt and tam o’shanter, blond curls flying as she daintily toes the ancient Scottish dance of Ghillie Callum.

Dianne’s family will hold a private memorial service for her later in the summer.
