Obituary for Priscilla Annette Marie Benson

Priscilla Annette Marie  Benson
ROCKLAND - Priscilla Benson, 91, passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side, Friday, April 3, 2015 at Windward Gardens in Camden.

Born May 22, 1923 in Stockholm, ME, she was the daughter of Magloier and Annie Chassi Plourde.

She attended area schools and was a 1941 graduate of Houlton High School.

Following high school, Priscilla began her career with the War Department, working for nine months before she resigned and returned home to care for her mother who was recovering from TB. Returning to the work force, she began work with the Houlton Air Force Base as a clerical worker, later moving on to Bradley Field Air Force Base in Connecticut.

Following her marriage to Clayton Benson on August 18, 1947 in Houlton, Mrs. Benson worked in a small gift shop there. She then worked for the Houlton Pea Factory. After her three daughters were born, she became a stay at home mother. The family moved to Rockland in 1985 and she has since resided here.

Predeceased by her husband Clayton on August 12, 2006, brother Dorson Plourde and sister Dorothy King; Mrs. Benson is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Cynthia and Grant Milbouer of Deland, FL, Barbara and Bill Nadeau of Warren, Sally and James Murray of St. Cloud, Minnesota; sister, Sylvia (Geraldine) Root of Wethersfield, CT; grandchildren, Philip Nadeau, Renee Algarin, Melissa Murray, Samuel Murray, great-grandchildren, Silas Nadeau, Brayden Nadeau, and Elise Algarin.

Priscilla’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all the caregivers at Windward Gardens for the kind and compassionate care they gave. They all made Priscilla’s stay much more comfortable.

A memorial service at will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 15, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church 150 Broadway. Interment will follow at Coughlin Memorial Cemetery. All are invited to continue to visit with the family at 104 Limerock, adjacent to Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
