Joanne M. Noyes (Murdick)
SERVICE NOTICE - A reception will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Monday, June 1st, at The Burke Mountain Club, 368 Vermont Route 114, East Burke, Vermont.

CAMDEN, MAINE - Joanne Murdick Noyes, 86, died peacefully at her home, February 12, 2015, after an extended illness.
Born in Montpelier, VT, September 4, 1928, she was the daughter of Robert W. and Helen J. (Moore) Murdick.
She graduated from the Northfield Mount Herman School in 1947 and attended Beaver College in Jenkintown, PA, majoring in fine art.
Throughout her life Joanne lived in a number of towns in New England, including Pittsfield, Worcester, Springfield, Acton, Ipswich, MA and Providence, RI.
Her artistic talents were reflected in the renovation of a 100 year old house in Ipswich, MA with her late husband, Edward Noyes and the building of a home in Kirby in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont; where she was known for her beautiful flower gardens and scenic paintings of northern Vermont. She was very involved in the Northeast Kingdom Artisans Guild. She was also an avid reader and an accomplished seamstress.
A graphic artist by trade, she created hand drawn illustrations and oversaw the printing of catalogs for Country Curtains of Stockbridge, MA and Maple Grove Company of St. Johnsbury, VT. As well, she created ads for newspapers and many other companies. For many years she hand illustrated catalogs for the Country Store of Concord, MA.
Joanne and Ed met at a ski club in Massachusetts and together they owned and operated the Country Hearth Ski Shop in Ipswich and Newburyport, MA, and later, at Burke Mountain, VT. It was a reflection of a love of skiing the family all enjoyed. She also loved to walk her dog through the woods in Vermont every morning and even through the deep snow of winter.
Other than her parents, Joanne was pre-deceased by her husband Edward Noyes in 2008. She leaves her daughter Pamela and husband Kenneth Twaddel of Camden, ME; two sons, Gordon E. Noble and wife Laura of Portland, OR, Geoffrey M. Noble and wife Theresa of Kilauea, Hawaii; six grandchildren, Samuel Noble and his wife Summer and their children Logan and Knox, Forrest Noble, Laura Eden Noble, all of Kilauea, HI, Sofie Noble of Portland, OR, Rebecca Twaddel and Maxwell Twaddel both of Camden; sister Ruth A. Walker and husband Richard of East Longmeadow, MA; as well as nieces, a nephew, and many friends.
To honor Joanne's request and her love of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, she will be laid to rest in Kirby, Vermont. Details will be announced at a later date. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 3:30 to 5:30, Thursday, March 5th, 2015, at Joanne's home, 27 Central Street, Camden.
Memorial donations are suggested to either The Friends of Mt. Battie Tower (checks payable to the Town of Camden, P. O. Box 1207, Camden, ME 04843 with ‘Save the Tower Fund’ on memo line), or Maine Public Broadcasting Network at www.mpbn.net (donate).
