Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Field

Elizabeth Ann  Field
ROCKLAND - Elizabeth Ann Field passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015. She was a resident of Rockland, Maine.

She was born October 2, 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late James William, Jr. and Ethel Rae Thorpe Quigley. She graduated from Framingham State Teacher’s College in 1947 and earned a degree in home economics.

Following graduation, she taught home economics at Wellesley Junior High School in Massachusetts. While raising her three children, she was a substitute teacher and taught sewing classes.

Mrs. Field was known for her love of textile design and fiber arts. Most notably, her talent for creating beautiful quilts and striking sweater designs brought delight to friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph; her daughter and son-in-law, Edward and Penny Bell, her son and daughter-in-law, Brownlee Field and Kim Kvocka, daughter, Melissa Field and granddaughter, Lauren Field. She was predeceased by her cousin, Ethel Wood, who resided with her family for many years during her youth.

A memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the First Universalist Church of Rockland, 345 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elizabeth’s favorite charity, The Salvation Army.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
