Obituary for Brenda Tashjian Ames (Tashjian)

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - Brenda Tashjian Ames, 71, of Arlington, Texas died December 19, 2014. Formerly of North Billerica, MA, Brenda was born November 5, 1943, in Brookline, MA. She was the daughter of Fahe Stone and Muriel Shirley Knowlton Tashjian and widow of David Arthur Ames, formerly of Warren, ME, whom she married on December 8, 1971 in Bedford, MA.

Brenda attended the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA, and received her GED in 1995. She enjoyed traveling with her guiding eye dogs to Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York and Maine. Guiding Eye companions, Spice, and Honey, followed by Honey II and her lab, Anja, were much loved and faithfully served her. Brenda was a great conversationalist, and very independent with a great sense of humor.

Brenda is survived by her husband’s uncles and aunts, Clifford and Marilyn Harper of Warren, ME, Keith and Gayle Harper of Burketville, ME; many cousins in Maine, Massachusetts and Kansas who will miss Brenda along with her kind Texas friends who were with her at the time of her death.

She was predeceased by her husband David, September 16, 1990, her parents, her twin sister Shirley, sister, Marsha Beam, Aunt Roma, and her Aunt Evelyn, who was so kind to her. Brenda’s husband’s parents, Eleanor H. and Maynard Ames who always assisted her whenever needed, her uncles and aunts, Richard and Arlene Harper, and Ruth H. and John Dresser, also predeceased her.

Brenda was a member of the Lake Arlington Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at the Lake Arlington church December 28th. A service at the family gravesite in McPhail Cemetery, Owl’s Head, ME, will be announced in May. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the North Arlington Baptist Church, 2912 Little Road, Arlington TX 76016, or the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, POB 1294, Rockland, ME 04841.
