Obituary for Francoise Hebert (Graviere)

Francoise Hebert (Graviere)
ROCKLAND - Francoise Hebert, 83, entered into rest, Thursday, November 27, 2014, at the Knox Center for Long Term Care.

Born in Cozes, France, June 19, 1931, she was the daughter of Pierre and Jane Transon Graviere. Francoise completed her education in France where she attended University for two years.

On April 27, 1956, she married Gerald Hebert in Angouleme, France, and after an extended honeymoon in Europe, she and Gerald moved to Madawaska, Maine. In support of her husband’s management career with J.J. Newberry Co., the Heberts resided in Millinocket, Presque Isle, Massena, NY and Fort Kent, before moving to Rockland in 1967.

A devoted homemaker, wife and mother, Francoise was actively involved in her son’s educational experiences and enthusiastically supported his extracurricular activities. When her husband owned and operated House of Cards, she often assisted him in the operation of that business. She was a member of the Parent Teachers Association, was an active member of the Beta Sigma Sorority, a longtime communicant of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the Daughters of St. Bernard’s. In addition, she was active in the Rockland chapter of the American Field Service (AFS) student exchange program, and volunteered for various activities of the Pen Bay Hospital Auxiliary. In 1982, Francoise was proud to attain U.S. Citizenship.

Francoise’s family extends their appreciation to the Knox Center staff for the loving care extended throughout her illness.

In addition to her parents, Francoise was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Gerald, in 1997, and her sister Michelle Williamson in 2009. She is survived by her son, Doctor Eric J. Hebert and his wife Donna, her grandson, Tristan David Hebert all of Rockland; her brother Gilles Chartier and his wife Bernadette of France; a very close cousin Claude Gaboreau and his wife Annie-Claire of Paris France, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 5, 2014, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland, where a Prayer Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. The Reverend Richard Malo will officiate. Spring interment will be in Coughlin Memorial Cemetery, Rockland.
