Obituary for Beverly L. Upham (Cushman)

PORT CLYDE - Beverly L. Upham, 71, passed away August 14, 2014 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Born in Port Clyde, July 14, 1943, she was the daughter of Bernard ‘Spinner’ and Alice Teel Cushman. She attended St. George schools and was a member of the Port Clyde Advent Church. Briefly she was employed at Port Clyde Packing in Port Clyde.
On July 10, 1965, she married Raymond Upham, Jr. of Thomaston. For 20 years she was employed at Nautica Van Baalens in Rockland, until it closed. For numerous years she and Ray traveled to Southwest Florida to work winters at the Gasparilla Inn in Boca Grande, Florida. As avid Red Sox fans, they would attend spring training games there.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her many friends near and far. She also enjoyed country music, and would spend many hours sitting, watching her birds, and her travels wintering in Florida.
Predeceased by her parents, she is survived by her husband Raymond of Port Clyde; children, Tonya Walsh and her husband Rick of Biddeford, Jeff Polky and his wife Amy of Tenants Harbor, Raymie Upham and his wife Tammy of Tenants Harbor, Chad Upham of Naples, FL and Port Clyde; seven grandchildren, Jason and Jenna Walsh, Jacob and Aren Polky, Nick and Zack Upham, Carla Upham; three great-grandchildren, Dannaleigh, Islah Rose and Deklin; brother Bernard ‘Sonny’ Cushman and his wife Barbara of Marco Island, FL; sister Della and her husband Tim Carey of Rockland; nieces and nephews Daniel, Alicia, Bernie, Kimberly, Heidi and Matthew; as well as several great nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles. Beverly had a very special sister-in-law, Paula Upham of Thomaston, who spent many hours of caring for her over the course of her illness.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4th at the Ridge Cemetery, Martinsville. A celebration of life will follow at the Black Harpoon Restaurant in Port Clyde at noon.
