Obituary for Milton Charles "Bub Milty" Clark

Milton Charles "Bub Milty" Clark
ROCKLAND - Milton Charles Clark, 'Bub' or 'Milty', 64 died peacefully Saturday, April 26, 2014 at The Henry County Healthcare in Paris, TN after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Camden, May 21, 1949, he was the son of the late Milton S. Clark and late Helen Roy Newell. At the age of two, Milton was raised by his father and step-mother Beatrice Josselyn Winslow after their marriage in 1951.

Milton grew up in Rockland until he was 16 and then moved to Thomaston until graduation. After graduating from Rockland District High School in 1968, Milton enlisted in the service. Milton proudly served in the United States Army for three years as a cook, with one of those years being stationed overseas in Korea.

Returning to Rockland, Milton began his employment at F.J. O’Hara & Sons and National Sea Products where he worked for a short time. Milton was also employed as a meat cutter at Jordan’s Market until he was deemed disabled.

In his younger years, Milton enjoyed drawing cartoon characters, carpentry, and playing chess. In later years, Milton enjoyed watching TV, dancing, being with his friends, bowling, playing horse shoes and pool.

Milton was a long time member of the Winslow-Holbrook-Merritt American Legion Post No. 1 in Rockland, the V.F.W Post No. 2499 and the Elks. Milton enjoyed “hanging out” at the American Legion with his many friends, and at times would help with the Sunday morning breakfast put on by the Legion. Milton also held offices in both the Legion and the Elks, plus he was in the American Legion’s Color Guard for numerous years.

Recently Milton moved to Tennessee with his companion of eight years, Gloria Santamore. After he moved, he discovered he had lung cancer and did not have much time left. Milton spent the remainder of his life where he wanted to be - in TN with Gloria.

Predeceased by his parents and two nephews, Jamie and Joshua Bowen; Milton is survived by a daughter Kristy Lynn Wellman and her companion Kirk Smith of Waldoboro; son, Milton Charles Clark Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; his step-mother Beatrice Winslow of Rockland; four sisters Mary Hallowell and her companion Robert Seigars of Dresden, Monica Bowen of Rockland, Melinda Dennison and her husband David of Thomaston, Barbara Nickerson and her husband Jim of South Thomaston; half-sister, Kathy Williams and her husband David of Windsor; half-brother Alton Newell of Coopers Mills; granddaughter, Allie Smith of Waldoboro; close 'second family,' Alice and Buster Cochran of Waldoboro and their children, Lou Ann Kinney, Kari Barlow, and Mark Peterson; as well as several nieces, nephews, many more great nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A graveside celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. The Reverend David English will officiate.
