WINTER PARK, FLORIDA & ROCKLAND, MAINE - Janette Mary Fowlie, 79, beloved wife of William ‘Billy’ Fowlie, died unexpectedly, following a period of declining health, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Winter Park Memorial Hospital in Winter Park, Florida.
Born in Long Cove, March 30, 1935, she was the daughter of William and Limpi Lammi Polkey. Raised in Rockland, Janette attended Rockland schools.
On July 30, 1955 she married William D. ‘Billy’ Fowlie in Rockland. Together they resided in Rockland until moving to Florida in November of 1983.
Janette will be remembered as the consummate homemaker. She kept a beautiful home and was a marvelous cook. She was known for her delicious breads and cookies. Keeping the outside of her home beautiful with flower gardens was another favorite pastime.
Janette is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, William Fowlie of Winter Park, FL; her twin sister Jane Fowlie of Rockland; her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Barter, Millicent Tolman both of Rockland, Alice Fowlie of Glen Cove; and several nieces and nephews, including Linda Fowlie Stern of Winter Park, FL who was especially helpful to Bill.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Achorn Cemetery, Rockland.
