Life Story for Clifford O. Colson Sr.

When Clifford met Barbara, they immediately fell in love. They married when she was the tender age of 16 and he, merely 21. Their romance spread into three lovely children - Clifford, Jr., Karen and Bruce. As a father he was a hard-working provider, making sure that his family was well taken care of while he was working three jobs to fulfill their needs. He built the house with which his family was raised in the year 1948. As time passed, he built onto the house, increasing the size for his growing family. He followed the footsteps of his grandfather, father, and brothers, joining the Volunteer Rockland Fire Department for which he served several years until the late 60s. He was a Lumper (hauling fish out of boats) at 40 Fathoms for 20 years. For side jobs, he managed a garbage route and demolished buildings with his brother Edward. He then began recycling, bringing many thins home to begin his crafty endeavors. In the mid 60s, he bean working at Bancroft until his retirement, performing maintenance and have achieved the position of head of maintenance. In his retirement years, he began building miniature houses and furniture with the assistance of his wife, whom enjoyed creating lovely quilts, pillows and rugs to furnish the beautiful homes he had created. Together they traveled extensively across the country, visiting places like Tennessee, Branson, Missouri, and Mississippi.
As a grandfather, he left his grandchildren and great-grandchildren fond memories of stones he collected (Cape Diamonds as he called them), conversations about earlier times, happy and loving Thanksgiving gatherings, many endearing Christmas Eve get-togethers, and the awe we all felt when we saw his newest creations. He was a crafty man, a man of many talents, and some we are all hopeful have been shared with is children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, possibly even talents yet to be unveiled.
Clifford Colson, Sr. passed at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of 89/ He left us all with the blessings of his life. He was fortunate in having a healthy marriage of 67 years, three healthy marvelous children, and many healthy and terrific grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren, as well as an independent life full of friends and close family. As Thomas Campbell once said, 'to live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.' Clifford (Bampy) was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Those we love remain with us...
In the whisper of the wind
In a soft rain that falls from Heaven
In each sunrise
In every single star that lights the night sky and
In every single memory we hold within our hearts.
-Mary Chandler Huff
