Obituary for Rose Marie Vicelich (Janssen)

Rose Marie Vicelich (Janssen)
ROCKLAND - Rose M. Vicelich, 89, died Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, following a long illness.
Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, December 2, 1923, she was the daughter of Joseph P. and Rosalia M. Yongmans Janssen. She was educated in local schools.
She married Luke Vicelich in Hoboken. The couple made their home in that city, where they raised their family and at one time owned and operated a candy store. Most of her career, Rose worked as seamstress in the garment manufacturing industry.
In 1981, a few years after her husband’s death, Rose moved to Rockland to be near her children.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and as an accomplished seamstress enjoyed making clothes for her family and friends.
In recent years, Rose was thankful to be able to reside with and be cared for by her family. She had only been in the hospital a few hours at the time of her death.
Other than her husband, Rose was pre-deceased by two grandsons, Lucas Kostopoulis and Robert Kostopoulis and one great-grandchild, Wendy Broderick. She is survived by three daughters, Marie A. Duswald and her husband Ronald, with whom she resided, Jeannette Whalen and her husband Robert, all of Rockland, Rose Gibson and her husband Gene of North Carolina; a sister Pauline Rodmezter of Jersey City, NJ; eleven grandchildren, Anthony Vicelich, Luke Broderick and his wife Laura, Ronald Duswald, Jr., Adam Duswald, Hollis Duswald, Nick Kostopoulis, Kontessa Kostopoulis, Joanne Southerland, William Borrelli, Rosalie Lopez, and Chris Feildner; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A graveside committal will be held at a later date, at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
