UNION - Lorraine Johnson, 74, died Monday, March 11, 2013 at Quarry Hill in Camden.

Born July 15, 1938 in Port Jefferson, New York, she was the daughter of the late A. George and Phyllis Bayles Thorne. Educated in New York, she was a graduate of Port Jefferson High School. Following high school Lorraine enrolled in Nursing School.

She married Frank R. Johnson in February 1958 in Long Island, New York. Together they resided in New York until moving to Union in 1970. For many years she enjoyed wintering in Florida. She enjoyed shelling (beach combing), warm weather, swimming in her pool, antiquing, playing cards and knitting beautiful fisherman sweaters for her family. She was a fun and loving grandmother.

A people person at heart, Lorraine served countless people in her capacity as a waitress in several area restaurants.

Predeceased by her husband, Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons, Andrew G. Johnson and his wife Liza of Waldoboro, Mark A. Johnson and his wife Corrine of Union; her daughter Abbie L. Johnson and her significant other Dave Herrera of Honolulu, Hawaii; her sisters, Ginny Anderson and her husband Ted of Rotonda, Florida, Patricia Hall of Rocky Point, New York; a grandson Shane Johnson of Waldoboro as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, The Reverend John Vermillion will officiate. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Overlock Hill Road, Union.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association 51 US Rt. One Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
