ROCKLAND - Steven Allan Ives, 63, passed away at Windward Gardens in Camden, February 16, 2012, after a short illness. Born in Winchester, MA, October 25, 1948, he grew up in Reading. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Adella Ames Ives of Owls Head.
Steve moved to Maine in the 1980’s and was a long-time resident of Rockland, working for many years at Fuller Cadillac Olds as an auto technician and later at the Time Out Pub as maintenance person.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristen Marston, and three granddaughters, Alexandrea, Gabrielle, and Arianna of Summerville, SC; his brother, Bruce Ives and his wife Nancy, of Cherryfield; his nephew, Seann Ives and his wife Dawn and grand-nephew Sebastian of Ayre, MA; his niece, Carrie Little and her husband Tim of Lowell, MA.
In addition to family members, Steve will be greatly missed by his many friends in the Rockland area who enjoyed so many years of mutual good times and support. He was always a hail-fellow-well-met type of person upon whom others could depend. Steve will be remembered as a good man who enjoyed people and life.
The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the wonderful care-givers at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Windward Gardens.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Owls Head in May. Donations in Steve’s memory may be made to: the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, MD 20814.
